Prologue
Saturday October 9, 1999 definitely ranks as one of the banner days of EricL's life. The UC Davis college student nailed five out of six in the California State Lotto's "Pick-six" game. The incredible stroke of luck netted the young man nearly eight thousand dollars. A check from the California State Treasury for $7,417.09 arrived in his dorm room mail box just yesterday afternoon - and he already knew how he was going to spend the majority of it.
Most of the members of the Jambytes are arriving at San Francisco International Airport around noon today. EricL has arranged for them to be picked up in a limo, not your ordinary limo, mind you. The nearly 40 foot long, stretch Hummer was waiting curb side until the crew arrives from various parts of the country, to be escorted to the swank "Alioto's Italian Bistro" on the water front at Fisherman's Wharf.
EricL had bolted school a few hours early and is in his Maxima, bound for The City. UC Davis is about a three hour drive from San Fran, and EricL is reveling in how good life is. The Jambytes laid the smack down on the MaximaMafia at the last Manly Games event in Chicago. They'd completely pulled one over on the bafoons, he's eight grand richer, and about to be THE MAN for a night. EricL is blowing the hole bank roll on a gigantic blowout with the Jambytes tonight. Rolling down the freeway, listening to the drone of the Stillen, en route to Alioto's, he's feeling on top of the world.
Yep, this is going to be fun.
