SoCal-SERCA DynoDay @ R&D
return to brian1.net

Pictures are finally up! It was a pretty low-key event... no big crowds, no big hordes of SR20DE's (just small ones), in fact, not much that attracted very much attention at all!

Ok, straight to the numbers... extract from SoCal-SERCA e-mails... I know I'm missing a few...

Clay@12psi 236.2hp@6800rpm and 218.2ft-lbs@4900rpm
@14psi 250.3hp@6800rpm and 232.5ft-lbs@4800rpm

This is on a GTi-R engine, stock T28, Cobra MAF, 444cc injectors, Walbro 255lph pump, mandrel 3" exhaust with 3" Catco cat, JWT Pop. All runs on 91 octane.
AntonioStraight DET swap - nothing too fancy, FMIC, pullies, 3" exhaust, 18 deg timing yielded 206whp and 196wtq at stock boost.
Greg V156.8 whp & 137.3 tq. All motra. JDM engine (unsure of comp ratio), S3 cams, ECU, JWT flywheel, UR 2 pulley set, Hotshot header, Hotshot CAI w/ Popcharger at the bottum, Stromung exhaust.
Ron (`72 510)62hp / 90 tq w/ DCOE jetting issues(seemed to have misplaced the dyno sheet... - looks like a kindergarten kid scribbled all over it) very erratic power curves, more like a seismic graph to me... and he wasn't kidding! Andrew and I don't think it even crossed at 5252rpm!
Ron (`02 RSX-S)wife's `02 RSX-S: 184.3hp / 133.1tq w/ AEM CAI, Greddy EVO catback, Hondata ECU (lowered VTEC switchover, higher redline - 5200/8600, advanced timing.)
Mike K (turbo classic)380hp T3/T4
Andris225 whp at 9 psi. HKS GT3037. MAF was maxed out and injectors (370s) had gone static by 5500 rpm :) this turbo kicks ass.
Carlos123.3hp on his `92 stock
Sarah F126hp, ?? tq HKS exhaust/K&N cone-equipped 92 SE-R w/ 153k miles
Andrew (`99 Miata 10AE)114whp, 106.8lb/ft Poodle-mobile (or as Rob and Mike would say... "GHEY!") w/ Racing Beat muffler, K&N drop-in filter
Naji149 hp. S4 cams, (otherwise) the same mods as Greg's car except for: a leaky header gasket, Heavy Shockproof gear oil, and 1/8 toe-out and 2.6 negative aligment.
Last time with the same mods w/o heavy gear oil and non-leaky gasket: 152 hp.
Terrin218hp. 11psi on T25.
Jason214hp, 206lb-ft. Stock boost, 8.5~9psi.
the black sheep 160.0fwhp, 174.7lb-ft The gains weren't as much as I expected given my previous baseline, last time... but all the CAI'ed cars were suffering this time. Weirdness.

Unfortunately, not too much else of interest and not too many pictures, as I spent a bit of time under my car installing a Warpspeed s-pipe for my 2nd set of dyno runs. I don't think it did anything for power, but heck, when you're naturally aspirated, you take everything you can get!

We can't forget the crazy Northstar V8-powered dune buggy that was there too. Never did see what it put down on the dyno though, as Darren was taking care of it after DynoDay was over... for $70k though, that thing is BEAUTIFUL, and doubtless a little insane. Remote reservior shocks, grade 8 bolts everywhere... my goodness.

Special thanks to R&D Dyno for hosting the event!
